This blog is the public notebook of the Cybernetic Futures research programme. We start it now for a specific reason: several parts of the programme are moving from planning into serious, sustained work, and from here on the developments deserve a stable place to be recorded and followed.
Where a research programme develops over years, the trail of change matters as much as any single result: how an idea took shape, which roads were explored and abandoned, what evidence shifted a claim, who contributed what and when. We want that history to stay available — to us, to collaborators, and to anyone else who is working along similar lines.
What you will find here
- An overview of developments — short updates on each active thread of the programme, written as the work happens rather than retrofitted later.
- A history of changes — a running log of decisions, iterations, and corrections, so the shape of the programme’s evolution is traceable over time.
- Open process — this is a working document space, closer to a lab ledger than a polished publication. Expect drafts, revisions, and honest notes on what is not yet settled.
Posts are written by the people doing the work, credited individually. Older entries are not rewritten in place; when our understanding changes, we add a new post noting the change and linking back to what came before. In that way the blog itself is part of the programme’s history, not just a commentary on it.
